GEOFF Metcalfe lies on the stand next week in Coronation Street and paints Yasmeen Nazir as a violent drunk as her attempted murder trial kicks off.

Yasmeen has been in prison for months awaiting trial for attempted murder after attacking Geoff in self-defence when he jumped at her with a knife.

Geoff paints Yasmeen as a violent alcoholic during the trial

The violent showdown came after months of coercive control, which saw the monster gradually separate Yasmeen from her friends and family, and belittle and torment her.

Next week’s episodes of Coronation Street will see Geoff goad Tim when he bumps into him on the street, telling him he always knew he’d never amount to much.

Tim falls for Geoff’s jibes and angrily punches him.

Later, Imran and Alya are devastated when they hear that Tim punched Geoff and point out he’s no longer a credible witness.

And there’s more bad news when Tim gets a call from the police revealing Elaine has been found in a psychiatric hospital, meaning she won’t be able to stand trial either.

The trial kicks off later in the week and the barristers deliver their opening statements.

When Geoff takes the witness box, he paints Yasmeen as a violent alcoholic and talks about how she attacked him with the broken bottle.

Tim visits Elaine in hospital and asks her to forgive him for believing Geoff over her.

Yasmeen is torn apart by the prosecution barrister

Elaine tells Tim that she’s convinced Geoff has been spying on her in the hospital.

Tim then asks her to give evidence at Yasmeen’s trial to stop Geoff in his tracks once and for all, but what will she say?

When Imran cross examines Geoff, he’s forced to admit that his ex-wife Elaine might be alive after all.

Imran also shows the court the phone footage of Geoff’s abusive behaviour.

Yasmeen then explains how she’s been the victim of domestic abuse and describes the evening Geoff attacked her, but she’s later torn apart by the prosecution barrister.

Alya and Sally take the witness box but the prosecution is quick to point out they have no actual evidence.

Will Elaine come to their rescue?

And what will the jury decide about Yasmeen’s fate?
