KEVIN Webster has been the proud owner of Coronation Streets garage since 1997, but his reign could soon be over.

Im told the mechanic, played by soap veteran Michael Le Vell, is going to be blackmailed by sleazeball businessman Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) over love interest Abi Franklin.

Dangerous charmer Ray Crosby sees an opportunity to swindle Kevin out of Websters Auto Centre

After Abi (Sally Carman) gets caught on CCTV torching ex Rays car in an act of revenge, the dangerous charmer sees an opportunity to swindle Kevin out Websters Auto Centre.

Abi already has a prison record and would end up back behind bars, so Ray tries to exploit Kevins feelings for her by claiming he wont report her to the police if he hands over the garage.

A soap source said: Kevin has been the proud owner of the garage for more than 20 years but when Ray catches Abi torching his car he decides to make a play for the garage.

He says he wont dob her in to police if he agrees to flog it to him for a good price. Kevin has to decide if he want to save his business or save his love.

The garage has seen some sights over the years, including the murder of builder Tommy Harris by his daughter with a wrench in 2005. Riddled with guilt, Katy later killed herself.

That should knock some dosh off the asking price.

Donna air guitar

DONNA Air has come a long way since her Byker Grove days playing one half of power-couple the Hansens in BBC1 series The Split.

Donna and Ben will star in The Split

The show which follows three high-flying legal-eagle sisters sees her play Fi Hansen who is keen to escape her controlling husband, rock guitarist Richie (Ben Bailey Smith).

Nicola Walker’s Hannah is her divorce lawyer in this second series, following on from its 2018 initial six-parter.

David’s soaper keen…

HAVING conquered the world of sitcoms with Little Britain and talent shows with BGT, David Walliams now fancies himself as a soap star.

The comedian said: Soaps are great if you are starting out, as its an amazing training ground, or if you are later on in your career and guaranteed work for ten years or so.

I wouldnt turn my nose up. They have great actors, writers and directors.

David cited the Corrie roles of Ian McKellen who was conman author Mel in ten episodes in 2005 and Peter Kay who played a shopfitter in 1997 and a drayman in 2004.

He added: If I did a soap it would have to be something similar to when Ian McKellen was in Corrie. For them to write a really funny character for a few weeks. Peter Kay was also in Corrie. Im a big fan.

Spice show is a no-jo

AFTER years playing madcap Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous, Joanna Lumley was carving out a nice new niche making travelogues.

Joanna Lumleys Spice Route would have seen her sail between Asia and Africa just as ancient traders did

However, world politics have now thrown a spanner in the works. First there was her Silk Road Adventure, which aired two years ago on ITV and recreated the land journey taken by traders between Asia and Europe.

It proved such a hit that channel bosses gave the actress another show, Joanna Lumleys Spice Route, which would have seen her sail between Asia and Africa just as ancient traders did.

But rising tensions between the United States and Iran have put a stop to the four-parter because the journey took in some of the Middle East at a time when it was at its most dangerous.

That wouldnt have put Patsy off…

Rob out in cold

THERE might be another helping of Cold Feet, according to the shows star Robert Bathurst.

Cold Feet’s Robert Bathurst has given fans new hope

Series boss Mike Bullen said earlier this month there were no plans to pick up the ITV drama after the current series ends, but Robert who plays David Marsden has given fans new hope.

Robert, who adapted and is starring in play Love, Loss and Chianti, in London, from February 25, said: I mean theres talk of a one-off. Its just talk. I dont know any more than that.

The Heist returns

THE Heist is returning for a second series next month after a hugely successful debut.

The Sky game show, which sees ordinary people from a small town team up to rob a life-changing amount of cash was a hit in 2018.

Contestants have to keep the proceeds hidden from detectives for 20 days. The new series will see 1million up for grabs after the thieves took 250,000 in the first season.

Executive producer Matt Bennett said: Once again we ask inventive, ordinary folk to commit the perfect heist.
