CORONATION Street actress Kimberley Hart-Simpson has bowed out of the soap after a four-month stint.
The actress – who played sex worker Nicky Wheatley in the ITV soap – has filmed her final scenes for the show. But will she ever return to the cobbles? Here’s the lowdown…

Has Nicky left Coronation Street?
Corrie viewers watched Nicky depart from the cobbles last month after Daniel gave her money he’d stolen from Geoff Metcalfe so she could quit her job as a sex worker and settle her debts – and have a fresh start by the sea with her daughter.
At the end of last month Nicky returned to visit Daniel in Victoria Gardens and, thanking him for the money, said an emotional goodbye.
HOAR Online can now confirm that Nicky’s goodbye scenes were indeed the end of the road for the character and actress Kimberley.
Nicky first appeared on our screens back in June 2020 when she met Daniel while out for drinks at The Waterway hotel.
Daniel quickly found comfort in Nicky’s company following the death of his wife Sinead, asking her to dress up in Sinead’s cardigan and wear her perfume for their meetings.
Things started to look bleak for Daniel when Nicky began to distance herself from him when she realised he was getting too attached.
But in a shock turn of events, it then became clear that Nicky had caught feelings for Daniel when she overheard him telling Kirk he’d never swap his late wife for a sex worker.
When Nicky confronted him, Daniel insisted he wanted a proper relationship with her and promised to help her quit her job and start a new life.
Corrie fans were divided over Daniel’s determination to “save” Nicky, with some branding him controlling and patronising.
Why is Nicky Wheatley leaving Corrie?
Speaking about Nicky’s exit, a source explained to HOAR Online: “Nicky’s proved really popular with viewers and the bosses absolutely love Kimberly.
“The character has gone off for the storyline to develop but the door is very much open for her return.”
Kimberley has been open in the past about how landing a role in Corrie was a dream come true for her.
The actress also revealed that securing her Corrie role was made particularly special given that it was her father’s dying wish.
Speaking exclusively to HOAR, she revealed: “I’ve been watching Coronation Street from the womb. I have been brought up on it. No one would dare ring our house phone when Corrie was on.
“My dad was a massive Corrie fan. Every time I went to him, even if I hadn’t seen him in a month, he’d want me to shut up while it was on. I think it might have mattered more to him than I did.
“Unfortunately, I lost my dad in 2007. One of the last things he said to me was, ‘Just do me a favour and get on Corrie, love.’ We had that shared connection with it.”
Will Nicky ever return to Corrie?
Viewers have been left hoping that Nicky will return one day and reunite with Daniel.
One fan tweeted: “I hope Nicky returns one day and gets a happy ever after with Daniel.”
Another viewer added: “Damn just read Nicky left Corrie. You smashed the role hun hopefully it’s not the end and we see Nicky again down the line.”
A third fan said: “Just read your character has actually left corrie, gutted and hope the bosses bring you back in time. There seemed lots of scope to develop Nicky’s character/story.”
Fans will be relieved to hear that the door has been left open for Nicky to return.
But with plot details yet to be confirmed, viewers will have to tune in to find out whether she ever makes a dramatic comeback.
