Will Gary Windass kill again in Coronation Street?

Coronation Streetfans know that Gary has turned to the dark side over the last year after struggling with the fact he caused Rana Habeebs death after the factory collapsed.

But things really kicked off when Gary ended up killing loan shark Rick after he threatened to hurt his then lover Sarah.

Gary then took over the role of the cobbles loan shark, beating up a number of residents including Ryan after he was unable to pay up.

Fans of the ITV soap will also know that the bad boy then found a safe brimming of money in a storage unit belonging to his murder victim.

Gary has been rebuilding the Underworld with the money, but has been keeping his funds a secret by using his stooge Derek as a cover.

The killer has been claiming Derek is a rich businessman whos invested in the factory even though he is actually one of Ricks clients.

However, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the shady builder.

Derek has sold the factory – which though belonging to Gary is under his name – to Nick and Sarah.

Coulda furious Gary end up killing Derek?

What has Corrie boss Ian Macleod said about Garys descent to the dark side?

Speaking to Metro,Ian MacLeod spoke about Garys descent to the dark side:Gary did come into the show among a family who were described as the Sopranos of Weatherfield a very long time ago and he was a right old neer-do-well. We did gentrify him over the years and put him in a pair of metaphorical slippers.

Ian went on to insist that Gary isnt all evil:One thing hes never been is an out and out murderer. Hes not Phelan. He never intended Rana to die and Rick, he did kill to some degree in self-defence but also because he knew if he let him loose, he would kill Sarah, the person he totally loved at that time.

Those were the worst things he is capable of. I dont see him transitioning into a cold blooded murderer at all.

Ian spoke about the upcoming disaster on Christmas Day, and revealed how the event will be a wake-up call for Gary:Christmas is huge and somewhat triggered by Garys descent to the dark side. This will provide him with a massive wake up call. As he tries to rationalise the terrible things that have happened, hes unable to talk himself out of his guilt.

His experiences with Rick have changed him permanently – he wont ever go back to cuddly Gary Windass who takes Jake to the park. Hell still do this but his experiences have changed him permanently into a slightly darker character.
