AFTER being accused of murdering his former lover, Stu Carpenter is adamant on proving he’s innocent.

But not everybody in Coronation Street is ready to hear him out as he’s attacked by a gang of lads next week.

Stu Carpenter is approached by a group of lads next week

He struggles to maintain his innocence in the cobbles

The former homeless man gets attacked by the youngsters

The former homeless man played by Bill Fellows was previously thrown behind bars as it was revealed he had murdered his former lover Charlie.

However, it soon became clear he was actually innocent and driven by police to make a confession after being starved and interrogated for multiple hours on end.

Convinced of his innocence, Yasmeen Nazir decided to stand by her man and took him back into the Speed Daal kitchen.

Unfortunately, upon his return and as Yasmeen’s grandson Zeedan (portrayed by Qasim Akhtar) will notice next week, Stu has had a negative impact on business in the restaurant.

Coming up, Zeedan finds this out as he surveys the empty bookings diary, worrying that Speed Daal may have to pay for Stu’s name being cleared.

Matters go from bad to worse for Stu when he heads home as two lads harass him in the cobbles.

The youngster brand him a murdered and the situation escalates.

Later on, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) tells Zeedan about the attack on Stu – how can he help him?

As mentioned above, Stu was accused of killing Charlie Walter and even served 27 years in prison as a result of his forced confession.

While behind bars, he continued to maintain his innocence but his family – more particularly his daughter Bridget – never wanted to hear another word of him.

In recent scenes of the Manchester-based soap, Stu told Bridget he’d do anything to prove he’s never committed the crime, while Yasmeen is ready to fund a solicitor to help him.

But as he insisted he was innocent, his ex-wife Lucy showed up, leading viewers to believe they had found who actually murdered Charlie as she tried to push to stop trying to prove anything.

Could Lucy be responsible for Charlie’s murder?

Will Stu make it out of his attack?

How will he prove his innocence and finally clear his name?

Coronation Street airs on ITV.

Yasmeen Nazir and her family are trying to help Stu prove he’s innocent

But not many are ready to hear them out
