EMOTIONS are running high for Toyah Battersby as she faces a trial for murder following her husband Imran Habeeb’s death.

But as her big day approaches, the Coronation Street character makes a huge confession which could determine her fate.

Toyah Battersby faces trial for murder next week in Coronation Street

She’s accused of killing her husband Imran Habeeb

And she makes a shocking confession to Spider Nugent

Toyah (portrayed by Georgia Taylor) has been accused of crashing her car on purpose to kill her scheming husband Imran Habeeb.

The solicitor, who became known for his many lies and manipulative tactics, died of a heart attack in June, 2022, minutes after a horrific car crash.

His widow has since insisted she’s innocent and never meant to kill her other half.

Next week, as Abi Webster (Sally Carman) knows Toyah must be on tenterhooks due to her upcoming trial and asks her if she’d like to have Alfie for a couple of hours ahead of the fateful day.

Toyah later cries over Alfie’s pram, telling him how sorry she is for taking his father away from him.

But most shocking moment happens in later scenes when, back at home, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) walks in to hear her sister confessing to Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) that she DID lie to the authorities and crashed the car on purpose.

Toyah confirms that her intention was, indeed, to kill Imran as she grew tired of him wrecking her dreams of a happy family.

Spider and Leanne reel from her confession but when they head to court, Leanne begs Toyah not to say anything she could regret and to let her solicitor do the talking.

In court, the prosecution barrister paints Toyah as a murderer while Adam Barlow and Kelly Neelan are called forward as witnesses.

Saira Habeeb then takes the stand against Toyah, claiming she saw her kiss Spider and suspects she was having an affair in Imran’s back, which prompted her to kill him.

Leanne goes above and beyond to defend Toyah but, awash with guilt, the accused decides it’s time for her to take stand.

The verdict is then given – but will Toyah go to prison?

Meanwhile, Spider asserts he intends to stick around and meets up with DS Swain to discuss his job – has he betrayed Toyah?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
