CORONATION Street star Maureen Lipman has revealed she’s signed up for another year on the soap.

The legendary actress, who has played Evelyn Plummer since 2018, dropped the news while defending working on the cobbles.

Dame Mauren, 76, told Reader’s Digest: “I won’t hear a word against it. It’s full of quite exceptional actors working with very little rehearsal, very little direction.

“Am I envious of some of my peers? Sometimes, yes. Do I have the right to be? Of course not. Would I like to be in Sex Education? Yes, of course. Am I sorry I’ve signed up with Corrie for another year? No, I’m not.”

Corrie fans recently watched Evelyn clash with Phill Whittaker’s mum Mimi ahead of his wedding to Fiz Stape.

Phill’s (Jamie Kenna) mother Mimi (played by Margot Leicester) made her return to Weatherfield after seven months away.

Bride-to-be Fiz got worked up ahead of the visit, and her mood wasn’t helped by daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan) kicking off about her bridesmaid dress.

When Mimi arrived, Fiz was forced to house her because no hotel would take her dog Coco.

It frustrated Evelyn, who also lives with Fiz and Phill, and tensions quickly flared.

Mimi got knocked flying by Evelyn’s dog Cerberus and sustained a sprained hip.

It became obvious that both women living under the same roof would put a strain on everyone, but which of the two strong personalities will back down first?
