CORONATION Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has sparked concern from fans after revealing she is taking a lengthy break from social media.

The actress, who plays show favourite Abi Webster on the soap, told how she would be absent for the “next few weeks” in the surprise post.

It read: “Taking a bit of a break from social media for the next few weeks.”

The 41-year-old’s fans rushed to the comments section to express their concern.

One wrote: “Hope you’re OK, sending all the love.”

While another commented: “Virtual hugs.”

A third said: “Will miss you.”

And a fourth commented: “Enjoy the rest Sally, we all love you.”

Sally’s character is set to play a main part in the forthcoming consent storyline involving Amy Barlow and Aaron Sandford.

Show boss Iain MacLeod revealed that she will face a dilemma when it comes to knowing who is telling the truth.

He said: “She is embroiled in the story, so she becomes a key confidant for one of the youngsters in the kind of the big, socially responsible issue type story.

“She becomes somebody’s surrogate mum, and then has really big dilemmas to face about whose version of events does she believe and who does she side with.

“It causes her to investigate her own history of substance misuse and things like that over the years, so there are loads to play with in that story.”

In real life, Sally is happily married to co-star Joe Duttine, who plays Tim Metcalfe.

The pair tied the knot last year after being forced to postpone due to Covid.
