CORONATION Street has come under fire from fans who claim they’re switching off because the ITV soap has turned “woke and preachy”.

Viewers are moaning that it has become “unwatchable” because of a dramatic shift to its usual storylines.

The ITV soap has come under fire

A bomb planted at the Peace Market and a stabbing incident at Speed Daal have already taken place this year as Corrie explores the issue of far-right extremism with teen character Max Turner.

In last night’s episode, Coronation Street aimed to bring immigration into the forefront of viewers’ minds.

Nina volunteered at the charity shop where she meets a customer called Mo who cannot afford the suit he needs for an interview.

She lends him £10 and discovers Mo needed the suit for an immigration interview and was at the same processing center as his brother, who successfully arrived in England.

Despite the sweet story, many fans were angered by the constant “virtue-signalling” without more uplifting subjects.

One viewer said: “ITV should sack all these boring sick woke #Corrie scriptwriters and bring some light relief into the show.”

Another said: “Now it’s Woke #Corrie FFS stop with the woke agenda trying to brain wash people to this BS woke agenda.”

“#corrie back to woke rubbish again,” commented someone else.

One fan argued: “ITV has gone completely woke including #Corrie. Channel blocked.”

Someone else explained: “#Corrie Is way too dark at the moment. The writing is dreadful with ill thought out storylines and far too much virtue signalling.

“Raising issues is fine but when that’s all there is it’s boring. I’ve watched it for over 50 years and it’s now unwatchable.”

Another added: “#Corrie immigration street? Corrie has lost it, just nothing but preaching woke crap!”
