Greg will play the role of Barry McDonoagh, who is part of a new family being introduced in series four.

It’s the first role he’s landed since evil loan shark Rick was killed by Gary Windass [Mikey North] in Coronation Street in early 2019.

Rick is still sending shockwaves through the street after his body was finally discovered this week.

The character’s ex-wife Laura [Kel Allen] falsely confessed to the murder in a bid to protect Gary – who she has asked to take legal guardianship of her and Rick’s daughter Kelly [Millie Gibson].

In heartbreaking scenes, Laura, who is set to lose her battle with Cancer in upcoming episodes, broke down after she was arrested and charged.

After threatening to bring harm to Gary’s girlfriend, following months of torture for her family, things came to head during a brutal fight in the woods.

Gary killed the villain in self-defence and he managed to hide his grizzly secret for over a year before things began to unravel.

Michelle, 34, who has played Erin Croft since the show launched in 2019, previously revealed she banned her family from watching part of an episode.

Erin was filmed having an orgasm in the opening minutes of the latest series as she straddled her boyfriend in their bedroom.

She screamed “I’m c***ing” while moving back and forth vigorously on top of the lad in the raunchy scene.

When Dylan complained that he hasn’t finished, Erin crudely replied: “You can finish on my t*ts.”

Michelle said she did not let her family watched the X-rated scenes.

“That first episode, I didn’t let my family watch until 15 minutes in, and we all know why!” laughed Michelle, in an interview with Radio Times.

“I did a family message to everyone when that episode first came out saying ‘it starts now at quarter past, so please don’t put the TV on before then, I’m not going to explain why but don’t’ and they promised me that they didn’t.”
