Coronation Street’s Chesney star Sam Aston drops HUGE hint he’s signed up to I’m A Celeb after Andy Whyment’s 2019 stint

CORONATION STREET’S Sam Aston has dropped a HUGE hint that he has signed up to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after his co-star Andy Whyment appeared in the 2019 series.

The 28-year-old star shot to fame as a child actor after landing the role of Chesney in the ITV soap back in 2003.

And fans might finally be able to see a different side of him after he admitted he’s “more open” to appearing on the hit reality show.

Sam explained: “I’ve always said no to all of those shows, but then recently for some reason I’ve been more open to the idea. Jennie [McAlpine] and Andy [Whyment] did the jungle and both of them said it’s the experience of a lifetime.

“If I was offered it I would be open to the idea and open to the extra pennies!”

Andy was hugely popular in the last series of I’m A Celeb that took place in Australia, finishing runner-up to Jacqueline Jossa.

Meanwhile, Jennie landed in fourth place in the 2017 series of the show.

Despite fresh interest in signing up, Sam added to OK! Online that he would be “uncomfortable” being away from his home and family for so long – with he and wife Briony Gardner welcoming baby Sonny in August last year.

He explained: “The idea of going to Australia and not having any contact whatsoever with my family makes me quite uncomfortable.”

However, with this year’s series set to take place in Wales again due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a stint on the show could be much more likely for Sam.

Last year, show bosses made the decision to swap the Aussie jungle for a spooky UK castle, and enjoyed mammoth success.

Celebs admitted that being less far away from the home had appealed to them – even if they did have to put up with Britain’s miserable November weather instead of basking in the Australian sunshine.
