CORONATION Street’s Daniel Brocklebank has revealed a surprising new job.

The actor is best know for playing  Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap.

Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank has taken on a new role on another popular show

The actor starred on Countdown earlier today

But this afternoon he made his debut on the popular Channel 4 show Countdown.

Ahead of his appearance, Daniel, 42, took to Instagram to share the exciting news.

Daniel told his 141k followers: I’m hugely excited to say that today starts my guest appearances on #CountDown in dictionary corner with the rather fabulous Susie Dent & my pal Les Dennis hosting!!”

Fans flocked to the comments section to share their excitement.

One said: “Omg this is the news I’ve been waiting for.”

A second added: “The dream!”

A third chimed in: “GOALS!!!”

Since Countdown first hit our screens in 1982, there have been 85 successful series.

Daniel has been on Corrie since 2014.

But the soap isn’t the only popular show he’s appeared on.

He’s starred in the likes of Casualty, The Bill, Doctors, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Waterloo Road.

Earlier this year fans of the ITV soap were fuming with Billy after he got back with Todd Grimshaw.

Most recently he lost his job over over his betrayal.

The undertaker – who is played by actor Gareth Pierce in the ITV soap – stole from his own boyfriend by blackmailer Will, who’s threatening to expose Todd’s evil schemes to Billy.

Todd stole an expensive heat pump that Billy purchased for the halfway house and framed Paul Foreman for the crime.

His actions come back to haunt him after Ed breaks the news to Billy that the insurance won’t pay out for the stolen heat pump.

Todd is left horrified when Billy met up with the bishop and resigned as archdeacon.
