CORONATION Street actress Julia Graham has returned to the soap after four months away.

The star was away on maternity leave and is now back on set to film new scenes as Shona Platt.

The soap’s official Twitter account posted a short clip of the excited Julie back on set.

Sporting her red Coronation Street jacket, Julia jumped into the shot to deliver the good news to the show’s fans.

She exclaimed: “Hi everyone, you may be wondering why I’m wearing my Coronation Street warm coat, it’s because Shona’s back!”

This went down well with followers, who flooded the comments section to welcome Julia, 34, back to the soap.

One fan said: “That’s fantastic aww bless you. You are definitely missed on screen. Looking great.”

Another enthusiastic fan tweeted: “YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS IVE MISSED YOU Hope you and the baby are doing brilliant.”

A third fan posted: “Excellent news. Will be great to see Shona back on our screens. Hope she gets her memory back.”

Whilst a fourth fan wrote: “Yay, welcome back Shona we’ve missed that beautiful smile!”

Julia gave birth in November 2019

It was revealed in July 2019 that Shona was going to take a short maternity leave

In November 2019, Julia gave birth to a baby boy after going into early labour.

The actress revealed the news to her fans in a touching Instagram post showing a picture of her with husband Ben Silver.

She captioned the picture: “Franklin Wolf Silver born on 30/11/19. He’s changed our lives for the better in every way. I feel like I’ve known him my whole life.”

The actress went on maternity leave just weeks before she went into labour.

Shona is married to David Platt on the soap

Julia is back on the serial drama after just fourth months maternity leave, but she always planned to be away for a short time.

In July 2019, her on-screen husband David Platt portrayed by Jack. P Shepherd told Inside Soap: “Julia’s off for four months but we may cross over on screen when David gets out of prison.”

Julia revealed her pregnancy news on Instagram in May, writing: “Ben and I are delighted to announce that we are expecting our first baby at the end of this year!”

Julia has played Shona Platt in Coronation Street since 2016 and was last seen coming out of a coma and was unable to recognise David or his family.
