CORONATION Street star Shelley King has revealed shock health news at 67.

The soap star, who plays Yasmeen Metcalfe on the long-running ITV soap, has said she is being tested for autism.

Shelley has revealed shock health news

Before playing the role of Yasmeen, King starred in the BBC’s Angels as Jay Harper

Shelley revealed she will be assessed for the disorder after noticing symptoms.

She spoke about how her fear of crowds and anxiety pushed her to making a GP appointment.

“I noticed myself becoming quite unreasonable. I didn’t like crowds and I didn’t want to go out so I decided I’d try to get a diagnosis for autism,” she said.

The actress added: “I don’t think 67 is too old, it’s never too late.”

Before playing the role of Yasmeen, King starred in the BBC‘s Angels as Jay Harper.

Speaking more about autism, Shelley told Loose Women star Kaye Adams’ How to be 60 podcast that “simple things that people take for granted have not been easy”.

However, she ultimately thinks autism may be the reason she pursed acting as a carrer.

“If I sing it makes me feel better,” she said.

Shelley’s character Yasmeen Nazir made her first appearance on Coronation Street in July 2014.

Yasmeen was brought in as Kal Nazir’s (Jimi Mistry) mother and the wife of Sharif Nazir (Marc Anwar).

The Nazirs made history as they were the first Muslim family.

King has revealed how she tried and failed to have romantic relationships with men before coming out as gay

Shelley has opened up about her sexuality and living as her authentic self in a new essay published in the Metro.

She explained how growing up without seeing lesbians represented in the media was damaging and she “tried to have relationships” with men.

As a teenager she was drawn to books, films and plays that were “all about women who were attracted to other women”.
