The sing-song was part of the third episode of their weekly Twitter special #CorrieGoodNews, which aims to spread positive vibes and goodwill to fans during the coronavirus lockdown.

The hilarious tune, known as The Potato Song, is being used to help raise funds for Feed NHS and provide meals to those working on the front-line during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the catchy song wasn’t the only thing noticed by viewers, as Simon Gregson, who plays the ditsy Steve McDonald, was seen in the video with a bald head and dancing around with his dog.

Alexandra Mardell, who stars as Steve’s daughter Emma Brooker, also sported a new look as she changed her brightly-coloured hair from purple to blue.

Matt, 46, wrote alongside the video: “What a treat! I’m chuffed to bits! Thank you so much to the wonderful cast of #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie for joining me today in a rendition of #ThankYouBakedPotato!!!”

Fans couldn’t bet enough of the feel good video as one tweeted: “Wowsers this is utter brillance, I am a massive Corrie fan Corrie and Matt couldn’t get any better could it?!”
