Underworld machinist Kelly Crabtree made her first appearance in Weatherfield in 2004 and left six years later.

As viewers may remember, “Legs” (as Danny Baldwin would call her) was fired by Nick Tilsley for disloyalty to the company when she gave him confidential information about the business to help him get a better offer for Tony Gordon’s share.

Kelly was perhaps best known for her outspoken nature – and her full head of curly black hair, although she had sometimes been seen with a lighter colour.

But 12 years after her exit from long-running drama, actress Tupele Dorgu is set to appear in a brand new ITV programme titled Ridley and has the hair transformation to go with it.

Filming for Ridley has just begun and Tupele has been spotted on set sporting tight blond curls, a pair of jeans, a patterned jumper and a black leather jacket.

The curls are now framing her face and Tupele is barely recognisable as some Corrie fans may still be used to her shorter hair.

Tupele’s role in Ridley is yet to be revealed but she could be expected to get into some legal trouble as she was seen going to court with a police officer while filming in Lancashire.

Ridley will be starring Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar in the title role.

The show was created by Paul Matthew Thompson, one of the main writers of Vera – another detective drama which viewers can’t get enough of.

Before her role in the new programme, Tupele has been seen in many other TV staples after her departure from Corrie.

In 2011, Tupele took the role of Keely James in a Waterloo Road episode, before moving on to Hollyoaks as Dr Berrington (2015-2016) and Monica Blears in Casualty (2017).

She has also appeared in David Walliams’ TV adaptation of Billionaire Boy in 2016.

But what can ITV viewers really expect from Tupele’s new role?
