Danniella Westbrook reveals secret tears for EastEnders co-star as she admits ‘I still get emotional’

FORMER EastEnders actress, Danniella Westbrook broke down in tears to HOAR over the death of Dame Barbara Windsor.

The former I’m A Celeb campmate opened up on how she still feels emotional over the soap icon’s death, nearly two years later.

Danniella, 48, played Sam Mitchell, daughter of Dame Barbara’s character Peggy Mitchell in the London-based soap.

The actress first made her debut in 1990 before various on-off tenure’s in the BBC serial drama.

Her latest appearance was in 2016 when she filmed scenes surrounding the on-screen death of the infamous Queen Vic matriarch.

But the star, whose father was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, opened up to HOAR in an emotional exclusive interview, on how Barbara’s passing personally affected her.

She revealed: “For me, it’s too much and too and close to home.”

“And it’s like, there’s so much but she taught me so much because it taught me so much about not just acting. She taught me how to be public facing.”

When asked on some of her memories of her late co-star, the star then broke down in tears to HOAR as she personally remembered her late co-star.

Crying during the interview, Danniella tearfully explained: “I was just today in Marylebone today. And like walking down the street in Marylebone, I could just imagine Barb,

“But I get upset all the time, It’s still very emotional. But she was privileged to work with her, a real privilege. I shouldn’t get upset but I do.”

She added: “I think that’s another beauty of this, is a solid Barbara’s journey was so open. Even at the end, she made it when she found out she was getting dementia. She had her private time, but then she made it very open.”

When asked about her work on the soap, Daniella recently slammed EastEnders and revealed she wouldn’t go back to any soap.

But the former Celebrity Big Brother housemate revealed to HOAR that one of the reasons is because Barbara Windsor is no longer alive, and she made her experiences more special.

Danniella said: “I wouldn’t want to go back anyway, now Barb’s gone, because for me, it just wouldn’t be the same. I mean, Barbara WAS EastEnders for me.”

The actress is preparing to make her drama comeback, performing the role of Fairy Godmother in the adult pantomime Sinderfella alongside fellow Big Brother star Simon Gross.

Whilst the 48-year-old star admitted to the Sun that she is personally inspired by the late Dame and believes she would be rooting her on.

Danniella revealed: “I think she’d be so proud of me to see them be back in here in the West End

“Doing Fairy Godmother, she would have loved it. She’d be telling me ‘no do this, do that’.”
