They show Corrie’s Roy’s Rolls, run by Roy Cropper, offers an English breakfast and cuppa for £6.50.

Kathy Beale’s café in Walford charges £8.40.

Kathy, played by Gillian Taylforth, has two deals — cake and coffee for £4, and a bacon or sausage sandwich plus coffee for £6.

But for the latter price, Corrie stalwarts such as Steve McDonald can get two £2.75 portions of curry and rice — and still have 50p change.

A TV source said: “Roy looks after his customers better in these hard times.”

Kathy’s Cafe does offer some value on sandwiches.

A ham salad roll is £2.75, 45p cheaper than Roy’s, and tuna mayo is 70p less.

Kathy is also greener — her customers get 5p off hot drinks in reusable cups.
