EASTENDERS star Adam Woodyatt has fuelled rumours he could be returning to the BBC One soap in a series of new snaps.

The actor could be seen posing behind the counter as he popped in for some fish and chips at the Oldham’s of Westcliff in Westcliff-on-Sea.

Adam, 53, has been rumoured to be considering returning to long-running soap EastEnders as he is in talks with the BBC.

The actor, who plays Ian Beale, is being lured with a deal reputed to be up to £300,000 but a portion will go to his estranged wife.

Now, the star has dropped even bigger hints about his return by posing at the fish and chip shop – much like his soap character’s store.

Much-loved character Ian ran Beale’s Plaice – a fish and chip shop in Albert Square – from 1994 until his departure from the soap last year.

In the snap, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here star posed alongside chip shop staff and fans as he visited Southend’s beach.

Shared by the chippy, the images show “newest staff member” Adam donning a white overalls as he smiled wide for the camera.

“Have you met our newest member of staff? ‘Want salt and vinegar on ya chips love?’,” the chip shop wrote beside the post to Facebook.

“Thanks for being a good sport Adam Woodyatt. We just couldn’t resist asking you to don a white coat and stand behind our range.”

Regulars of the chip shop headed to the comments section to gush over the hilarious image, with one writing: “This is so cool!”

It comes as Adam is in big money talks to return to EastEnders, to soften the blow of losing top star Danny Dyer.

Adam announced his split from Bev Sharpe, 56, in 2020 after 22 years and is still trying to strike a divorce settlement.

He is wanted back in Walford as Dyer, 44, who plays Mick Carter, is leaving later this year.

Adam has been away for a year, in which he has appeared on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity and is now touring in stage play Looking Good Dead.

A source said: “Adam was one of the highest earners in EastEnders and there’s no doubt he’d be looking to come back on at least the same amount of money, if not more.

“They’re hugely keen to get him back after the massive blow of losing Danny. The belief is that if he signs it now it will mean he has to give Bev more in their divorce settlement.

“But clearly the bosses at EastEnders need to know what’s happening.”

The BBC said: “Any contract talks are pure speculation.”
