MORE than a year after his departure from the Square, Adam Woodyatt has finally ruled out a return.
The former EastEnders star cleared up any doubt today in Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch.
Fans of the long-running soap are now certain of it: Adam Woodyatt has “no plans” to step back into Albert Square.
The actor appeared on today’s instalment of Steph’s Packed Lunch alongside his on-screen ex-wife, Jane Beale actress Laurie Brett.
Both former EastEnders actors discusses their new play currently touring the country – but they couldn’t avoid any questions regarding the roles that made them famous.
Previous reports stated that Adam never truly refused a comeback to the show following his January, 2021, exit.

Host Steph McGovern first asked him to explain the reasons for his departure.
“I’ve kind of left, but not left. It’s kind of the way the storyline has gone…I’m not there”, Adam replied.
But his answer was more straightforward when Steph asked him whether he could ever go back to Walford.
“I could go back and I could not go back! I don’t know”, he first stated, adding: “the speculation has been hysterical. I think everyone is always going to speculate. But there are no plans at the moment.”
Adam is in no rush to reprise his role and this becomes apparent as soon as he speaks of this time out of character.
“I’ve been having a ball. Being back on stage, I’d forgotten why I fell in love with acting because you get that immediate response”, he continued.
“You’ve got an audience. If you do something on television, you could be waiting six weeks to three months a year.”
Slipping into the skin of the EastEnders chef in 1985, Adam was one of the longest-standing characters in the programme.
As mentioned above, he left the fictional London borough of Walford in January, 2021, after learning that Letitia Dean’s character (and on-screen wife) Sharon Watts tried to poison him for his part in her son Dennis’ death.
At the time of his last appearance, Adam had been seen in over 3,000 episodes of EastEnders.
Adam perhaps felt compelled to make things clear for BBC One viewers.
In March, reports claimed that he had allegedly been offered a huge sum close to £300,000 to return to the show.
“Adam was one of the highest earners in EastEnders and there’s no doubt he’d be looking to come back on at least the same money”, a close source said.
“They’re keen to get him back after losing Danny (Dyer).”

But clearly, Adam has decided to extend his stay away from Albert Square.
Meanwhile, EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
