EASTENDERS has cast new matriarch Suki Panesar who will land on the Square in the new year – with family secrets up her sleeve.
The character, played by actress Balvinder Sopal, is the mother of the Panesar family the burst onto screens in October.
Kheerat, Jags and Vinny Panesar may be happy to see their mother but her turbulent relationship with daughter Ash has already been hinted on screen.
Ash is adamant she wants nothing to do with her mother – but why?
Balvinder has previously starred in Doctors, Waterloo Road and Call the Midwife.
Joining the cast of EastEnders, she said: “I grew up watching EastEnders religiously so to be joining the show and playing matriarch Suki Panesar is a dream come true I am still pinching myself!
“Im excited to see whats in store for Suki as she joins her family on Albert Square.”
Producer Jon Sen added: “It has been clear since their arrival that the Panesar siblings live under the shadow of an overbearing matriarch and in January, Suki Panesar arrives in Walford, determined to make her presence felt.
“Balvinder brings a unique blend of steeliness and charm to the role and I cant wait to see her grace our screens in January.”
Suki will arrive in Walford harbouring a number of secrets from her past but how long can she keep them under wraps?
