EASTENDERS fans have broken down in tears as Lola Pearce begged grandfather Billy Mitchell to help her die.

The hairdresser – who is played by actress Danielle Harold in EastEnders – is dying of an incurable brain tumour.

In tonight’s emotional EastEnders Lola discovered she only has weeks to live

She made a tragic plea to grandfather Billy

In tonight’s episode she found she had only weeks left to live, with the tumour swelling in her brain and causing her to lose herself.

But faced with an agonising death in hospital, Lola refused to face that.

Instead she asked her grandfather Billy for help, asking him: “Lexi’s last memories of me should be happy, not me laying in bed as a shell of a person.

“You know yesterday when you found me, you promised that you’d help me. I want you to help me. It has to be on my terms pops.

“I need your help. Please, if you can’t do it for me, do it for Lexi. Please, you promised. I’ll just have to do it without you then.”

But realising Lola was serious, Billy agreed to help her.

He told her: “If you really want me to, you know, then I will.

“You’re right. There’s no need to put Lexi through all this, is there? Put none of us through it. And I can’t let you do it on your own.

“So if this is how you want it to be, then I’ll make it happen. But you have to tell Jay because he deserves that.”

Fans have broken down in tears at the emotional scenes.

One wrote: “I’m heartbroken. I am going to miss this father/ daughter relationship between Billy and Lola.”

A second said: “#Eastenders you have broken me. The sensitivity and accuracy around Lola’s story is so well done.”

Another added: “Watching this ep with a lump in my throat! Lola is playing a blinding part.”
