EASTENDERS viewers are disgusted after Ben Mitchell claimed abuse victims “ask for it” during last night’s episode.

Fans of the BBC soap were left angered at the sick remark following a conversation between Ben and Kathy Beale.

Soap viewers were left disgusted by Ben’s vile comment

During the episode, Ben – played by Harry Reid – was finally exposed when Kathy discovered her son had been blackmailing Martin Fowler.

After overhearing him threatening to harm Jean Slater, Big Mo and Arthur, Cathy later confronted the troubled character in the kitchen.

But Ben turned it back on her, bringing up how she faked her own death and then blaming her for the trauma she suffered in the past,

He said: “Everything that happened to you. You asked for it. Martin too. The thing with you weak people, you just love being abused.”

The comment was directed at mum Kathy

Things got heated between the pair in the kitchen

A furious Kathy slapped her son round the face before telling him: “I hope to God that you never live to be ashamed of your own child.”

Ben’s comment left viewers reeling online.

One wrote: “I love Ben but he was wrong for saying that’s however it’s not good to be talking about domestic violence then to end on a cliffhanger with violence.”

Another said: “Ben Mitchell deserved that so much. So repulsive and abusive. #EastEnders.”

He told Callum their relationship may not work out if he was to become a copper

A third commented: “‘The thing about you weak people is that you just love being abused‘ – how many times have we seen Ben pick fights to get hurt? Thats YOU, Ben. Youre talking about yourself.”

While a forth added: “I rarely say this but Ben deserved that & I’m really annoyed at him after saying weak people love being abused you freaking serious right now. But on a good note I did love these scenes.”

As well as his trouble with Kathy, Ben also told lover Callum Highway they couldn’t be together if he became a copper.

“Cops and robbers aren’t mates when they grow up,” Ben told his other half.

“I’m not an idiot,” Callum insisted. “I know that the stuff you do on the side is a little bit dodge.

“This whole you innocent, me naughty thing that we’ve got going on, it’s hot but it’s a bit dodge,” Ben interrupted.

“So what you saying, if I join the force, you’ll give me the boot?” a shocked Callum asked.

“I don’t see how we can work out otherwise,” Ben confirmed.
