EASTENDERS fans were left gobsmacked this evening when Stacey Fowler made a shock return to Albert Square.

While actress Lacey Turner was not shown on screen, she could be heard in a phone call to Kush Kazemi at the end of tonight’s episode.

Kush received a surprise phone call in tonight’s show

Lacey, who is currently on maternity leave, briefly reprised her role in a shock cameo that delighted viewers.

Stacey’s struggling mum Jean has been desperately trying to get hold of her daughter, who has been ignoring her phone calls.

Stacey was forced to move away after attacking Phil Mitchell last year, and tonight fans were heartbroken when desperate Jean even offered to sleep with the hard man in order for Stacey to come home.

Phil was horrified by the conversation and called Shirley to look after her friend, with Shirley telling Kush to speak to Stacey and make her return to Albert Square.

However, when Stacey did call Kush lied about her mum’s well-being, insisting that she was fine even though her mental health has been deteriorating and she has kicked Kush, Mo, and the children out of their home.

While viewers were outraged by Kush’s lie, they flocked to social media to heap praise on Stacey’s shock return – with one dubbing it the “cameo of 2020”.

They wrote: “Stacey’s phone call cameo? Best moment of 2020? Definitely.”

Another added: “Hearing Stacey’s voice has saved me, omg.”

A third excitedly shared: “I HEARD STACEY!”

Lacey welcomed her first child, Dusty, last July and it is not yet known when she will make a full-time return to the soap.

Earlier this year, the new mum told us that it’ll be difficult to leave her daughter, explaining: “I think it will be hard to go back to work as much as I’m looking forward to working again.

“I will miss Dusty because you get so used to spending all day every day together. She’s great company.

“Being a mother is by far the hardest job I have ever done in my life. But it’s also the best thing in the world. It has changed me because it makes you see everything differently.

“It highlights what’s important and what isn’t! I think I’m much more chilled out now I’m a mother.”
