EASTENDERS fans were left stunned after teenager Lily Slater makes a life-changing decision about her unborn baby.

The 12-year-old, played by Lillia Turner, decided to have a termination – but tonight viewers saw her have a change of heart.

Stacey and Martin wait for Lily to go to her abortion appointment

Lily has some life-changing news for her parents

Lily’s stepfather Martin Fowler (James Bye) encouraged her to have an abortion as she wasn’t ready to be a parent as she is too young.

Meanwhile, Stacey (Lacey Turner) has instilled that it is her daughter’s choice.

Lily agreed to having an abortion after hearing Sonia and Whitney talking about the complexities of having a child.

But tonight Lily had a heart to heart with her aunt Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) about her baby feeling “real” for the first time.

Later at the Slater household, Kat told Stacey and Martin that Lily is having second thoughts and shouldn’t have the abortion today.

An angry Martin cannot fathom Lily having a baby insisting it will “ruin her life.”

He is convinced that Lily “doesn’t want her baby” and wants the decision “taken out of her hands.”

But Stacey is adamant that she doesn’t want to “dictate” her daughter’s life.

Just then Lily walks in saying parents are meant to protect their kids which leads her to deciding to keep her baby.

Lily said: “That’s why I’m not getting rid of it. I’m having my baby.”

Stacey and Martin looked at each other in shock and worry.

Fans were left open-mouthed and divided by Lily’s decision.

Taking to Twitter, one said: “Lily’s having second thoughts about the abortion then. Kat’s right though, it’s still her choice whatever she chooses.”

Another wrote: “I get the decision is Lily’s to make, but Martin’s truth is needed. A baby is not a walk in the park #EastEnders.”

A third penned: “Lily is making a huge mistake. #EastEnders.”

Upcoming scenes see the Slaters and the Brannings come to blows in a later harsh exchange and some unforgivable words are thrown around.

Ricky Jr. may have to say goodbye to his mother Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).

Sam is worried about telling her son that she’ll soon be leaving the Square to go to Germany, less than a year after her return.

When a terrified Lily tells him he’s the father of her baby, mortified by the thought of the police getting involved, Ricky Jr. rushes off in a panic.

He bumps into his mother and blurts out the news – but Sam blows her chance to console him and upsets him even further by announcing she’s moving.

Sam is desperately trying to make things right with her son, while a blissfully unaware Ricky Butcher is searching for an engagement ring for her.

Will she leave her son when he needs her most?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer.
