EASTENDERS star Jake Wood revealed sizzling romps are cancelled and CGI is used in every scene in a bid to swerve the coronavirus on set.
The 47-year-old actor, who plays Walford hunk Max Branning, shared secrets from the set of the BBC One soap after the cast returned to filming yesterday.
Jake spoke to presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain today after production was halted on the soap three months ago due to the coronavirus.
He said delivering sex on screen would be “challenging” now the cast are restricted by social distancing rules.
When asked about his first day back on set, Jake replied: “Well, it’s going to take a bit of getting used to, everyone is two metres apart.
“It’s quite extraordinary. We’ve seen some of the ways things are shot and you are not going to notice the difference.
“I’m not allowed to give away much but … almost every shot has got CGI in it.”
Piers wanted to know the juicy details and how the likes of Max who is dating Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), will get frisky on screen.
Piers shouted down the camera as Jake spoke via video link: “What about the sex scenes Jake?”
The star laughed and replied: “They’re looking at ways to film it so people can appear to be kissing.
“Like anything at the moment it’s going to be a challenge … I don’t know how they’ll make it work, but they will.”
EastEnders ran out of episodes during lockdown and the final pre-lockdown episode aired on June 16, forcing the soap to go off air for the first time in its 35-year history.
With filming resuming yesterday, following new health and safety guidelines, fans have been promised four 20-minute shows a week as of September.
Meanwhile, trespassers sparked a 5am security alert after scaling a fence to break into the BBC’s EastEnders set during lockdown.
Police were called after the three “urban explorers” used a blanket to disable high-tech security cameras at the site.
The trio filmed themselves in the Queen Vic, the cameraman joking: “Get out of my pub!”
Footage also shows them in the Minute Mart and cafe on the soap’s Elstree Studios set in Borehamwood, Herts.
They had the freedom of the place, filming inside the shop, pub and wandering around the square.
The group, known for sneaking into abandoned hospitals and stately homes, made no attempt to hide their faces in online posts.
One said: “Once down and inside we had a quick run around getting as many photos as possible. We were caught pretty quick.”
The BBC said: “We do not comment on security matters.”
