MARTIN Kemp spotted an EastEnders blunder in the 35th anniversary episode when Mick Carter didn’t yank the shelf that trapped wife Linda.

The star, who played Steve Owen on the soap, said the pub landlord’s first instinct should have been to remove the obstacle – but he still loved the dramatic episode.

Martin Kemp chatted to HOAR Online at The Brit Awards in London’s The O2

Linda got her leg stuck after drunkenly trying to reach a bottle of wine from a top shelf, which collapsed during the disaster.

And fans were left open-mouthed at the Titanic-esque as disaster struck the boat party and Mick battled to rescue his wife.

Speaking exclusively to Sun Online at the Brits last night, Martin said: “The Titanic moment. Yeah I watched it the other night. ‘No love no, get your foot out, you’re stuck! I’m never gonna leave ya!”

He added: “As they were going down and the water was coming up … I couldn’t work out why he wasn’t pulling the top [of the shelf] and bashing it open!”

Viewers have been gripped this week after EastEnders pulled out all the stops for their 35th anniversary episodes

Actor Danny Dyer, who plays Mick, said EastEnders “have taken it to another level” with the boat party episodes and the ex Walford villain agreed.

He told us: “It was a good moment and they’ve gone to a lot of trouble EastEnders to go down and film in Shepperton tank, that they shot it in. And I love seeing EastEnders put effort into it because that’s when it’s at its best.”

Fans on Twitter spotted another way to save Linda, played by actress Kellie Bright.

One suggested: “Slide her leg to the right and shed be free…just saying.”

Another fan shared a photo of the moment and pointed out the huge gap: “Linda just needed to slide her foot along to the very obvious, wide enough gap between the leg of the counter and the fridge that’s underneath it.”

The heartthrob played EastEnders bad boy Steve Owen, a nasty nightclub owner from 1998 until 2002.

Prior to appearing in EastEnders, Martin was known for being in the band Spandau Ballet.
