EastEnders legend to front gritty new thriller Heat – with a deadly twist

DANNY Dyer is to star in a brand new Channel 5 thriller as he leaves EastEnders.

The soap legend, 45, will play a lead role in new show Heat along with an Australian and international cast.

It will be his first role since departing the BBC soap after eight years playing pub landlord Mick Carter.

Heat will unfold to the backdrop of the looming Australian bushfire season when two families who are long-time friends, venture to a secluded home for a summer vacation.

However, secret and lies will unfold and not everyone will make it out alive.

The four-part series will begin filming in Victoria, Australia this month and the thriller will air next year.

Speaking about joining the show, Danny said: “Can’t wait to get amongst this beautiful piece of work in Australia. I’ve always been intrigued about working there.”

The cockney actor continued: “It’s my first gig since my long stint at EastEnders.

“Really powerful dark script and a strong Australian cast and crew. Let’s have it!!!”

Joining Danny on the cast list are Scottish-born actor and presenter, Darren McMullen, Jane Allsop, Pia MirandaOlympia Valance and Neighbours star Richie Morris.

Newcomers Matia Marks, Matteo Annetta and Hunter Hayden will also join the complete the cast.

The series was ordered by Channel 5’s Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment and Unscripted for Channel 5 and Paramount+.

It’s a drama collaboration between Channel 5, Network 10 and Fremantle Australia.
