The EastEnders star, who plays Sonia Fowler in the soap, last tackled the gruelling course in 2019 when raising money in Barbara Windsor’s name.

Natalie Cassidy has stunned fans with her marathon training

Her training helped her shed an incredible three stone at the time, and Natalie has enjoyed running ever since.

She is set to join thousands of others at the London Marathon in May.

After a particularly good pratice run, she said today: “I just did my fastest 5k and my fastest mile ever. I can’t believe it, some days you just go out don’t you.

“I had my music on and I just ran and ran and ran. I feel very proud of myself, I did my fastest mile in 10 minutes and 5 seconds and I think the average was 10 16. So it was just over 30 minutes my 5k. So I feel very proud of myself.”

The star, who has daughters Eliza, 11, and Joanie, five, with her partner Mark, said she enjoyed a large slice of cake after her run.

She added: “Now Mark has been baking, he’s a very good baker. And he’s made three cakes this weekend, a banana cake, a carrot cake and a chocolate cake and they are all absolutely devine. And the fantastic thing about training for a marathon is you can really eat quite a bit if cake.”

“So I’m going to sit here, thank everyone for supporting Bab’s army, and please keep donating what you can, even if it’s pound, it means a lot.

“So yeah, training is going really well guys. Keep it up everyone who is doing it. Loads of love.”

In 2019 she completed the race alongside a host of her soap co-stars, who had been running in honour of Barbara Windsor.

Mum-of-two Natalie was joined on the run in 2019 by co-stars Adam Woodyatt, Emma Barton, Jamie Borthwick, Tanya Franks, Kellie Shirley and Jake Wood.

Their Barbara’s Revolutionaries team raised more than £100,000 for Alzheimer’s charities at the time, after the Peggy Mitchell legend was diagnosed with the disease.

Natalie, who was a dress size 16 when she was at her largest, looked super-trim as she posed for her latest video on Insatgram.

The actress lost three stone training for the London Marathon with her co-stars and spoke about her regime to the RunPod podcast.

Natalie explained: “I have learnt how to eat and how to be comfortable with who I am… You get wiser as you get older and I just feel much more confident and comfortable.”
