PENNY Branning is all grown up as actress Mia McKenna-Bruce looks worlds away from her time on the soap.

The 25 year old actress has not slowed down however since the BBC soap opera and has embarked on a slew of different roles including her brand new role in Peacock’s Vampire Academy where she has bagged herself the lead role of Mia Karp.

The show is based on the best selling book series of the same name by Michelle Reed.

The fantasy series and Mia’s casting were announced in August, earlier this year.

Mia made her debut on the BBC soap opera back when she was 11 years old in the role that first made her a household name.

However, her role of Penny Branning was not her first taste of TV stardom.

She first appeared on  Small Dark Places, followed by a part in BBC medical Drama Holby City.

Mia’s time as Penny was rather short-lived but her stint certainly wasn’t without its drama.

At the time of when her character was introduced into the square, Jack was in a relationship with Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack).

When she first met his daughter she was shocked that he hadn’t mentioned to her that she is paralysed from the waist down because of his of dodgy dealings while in the police force.

After failing to tip off a baron, the drug dealer got his own back by hurting his loved-ones.

Perhaps, Mia’s most famous role was that of her long-running tenure in Tracy Beaker Returns as Tee Taylor for all three series.

She then continued her role for the spin-off The Dumping Ground from 2013 to 2018.

During her time on the much-loved CBBC show, she returned to Holby City as a character called Asia Lucas, and played the role of a babysitter in BBC Three’s Josh.

She also starred in BBC’s Get Even as the main role Bree Deringer, which is based on Gretchen McNeil’s novel Don’t Get Mad.

More recently in a bid to make it big across the pond, she starred in the US drama Persuasion which released on Netflix earlier this summer.

She starred alongside acting heavyweights including Dakota Johnson and Richard E. Grant on the show.

She currently boasts an impressive 209k followers on Instagram and regularly keeps fans updated with all the latest goings-on in her life.
