Stacey has lost all rights in prison – meaning mum Jean can’t see her

In this week’s episodes that available to watch now on iPlayer but have yet to air on television, Jean Slater will be left devastated by news from the prison holding daughter Stacey.

As Jean gears up to visit Stacey, convinced her cancer will soon take her life, she begins to open up to Ruby Allen.

She even offers to go with Ruby to the hospital for her operation – to make sure she’s not alone.

And when they get back, admits she’s worried she will die before Stacey is released.

Viewers know Jean is convinced her cancer has returned – but as she didn’t go for hospital tests, it’s not clear whether it is.

As a thank you, Ruby visits her with a face mask so they can bond together and Jean falls for Ruby’s ploy and thanks her for trying to get Stacey out of prison – even though Ruby lied about it.

The touching moment is interrupted by a phone call from the prison and Jean excitedly thinks Stacey is calling her.

But Jean’s excitement to hear her daughter’s voice soon turned to disappointment.

She later tells Ruby: “Stacey was in a fight – she’s lost all of her visitor privileges.

“I’m not allowed to see her. That was the only thing keeping her going and me. I might never get to see her again.”

A Ruby tries to comfort her – Jean loses it and tears a strip off her.

“You don’t know how long it will be – you don’t know how long I’ll live,” Jean tells her.

“If I never get to see her again it’ll be your fault. You come round here with your fancy face masks pretending to be nice – but I know what you’re really doing.

“You’re guilty – you know you should never have called the police on Stacey and you’re trying to make yourself feel better because you put her in there.

“You put her in there and you’re standing in my home. Get out. This is your fault – everything is your fault.”

Jean is left fearing she will never see Stacey again
