EASTENDERS fans have pointed out that Sharon Mitchell sentenced Dennis to death more than a year ago – by swearing on his life.
The Albert Square icon promised she wasn’t having an affair with Keanu Taylor, despite the fact she very much was.
The lie came during a showdown with Louise Mitchell, who had got wind of their affair, with Sharon using her son to prove she’d got the wrong end of the stick.
Sharon played her a recording she’d obtained of them fooling around, insisting it was some kind of bizarre customer-service role play.
She then swore nothing was going on between her and Keanu in dramatic scenes that aired back in October 2018, saying: “Find a bible if you like.”
But Louise went several steps further, insisting: “On Dennis’s life.”
Sharon then replied: “On my son’s life.”
Even at the time, fans clocked there was trouble coming, tweeting: “Thats Denny dead then.”
Another posted: “‘Promise on Dennys life’ ‘I promise on my sons life’… Well we all know whos getting killed off.”
Sure enough, Dennis was killed off in dramatic scenes on EastEnders last week, when he drowned during the boat disaster which has rocked Albert Square.
Viewers were in shock as the lad was seen dead on the deck
However, Sharon’s lie was just one of a string of tell-tale clues dropped by the soap signposting the lad’s death with subtle hints appearing in the months and days before the disaster.
Last night, the grieving mum learnt that is was Phil who caused the boat disaster that led to her son being drowned.
Dennis died after being trapped on the boat by Ian Beale, but the crash was caused when Phil tried to murder Keanu on board.
