“Your dad used to drink and when he did we’d fight and he’d hurt me,” Emma told her daughter.

“He’d say his sorry and then he’d cry and promise to change if I helped him.

“But then one time on your third birthday he threw a boiling kettle over me.

“I was in hospital for months. I was in such pain. When I finally came out and I came to find you, you were gone.”

She added: “He had this jealous streak. He’d get nasty and violent.”

Lola defended her dad insisting he would never hurt anyone and began screaming at her mum.

“I left because I was terrified,” she shouted back as she lifted up her top to show her scars.

“This is what he did to me. That was your lovely father.”

Emma left with Lola still convinced she was lying but after Billy opened up about how he used to beat his nephew Jamie, she realised her mum was telling the truth.

Rushing out to the Square she stopped Emma from going and asked her to stay.

Emma told her: “However long you’ve got, I’m going to make it up to you.

“You and Lexi. I’m here now and I’m not going to let you go.”

Viewers were in tears at the scenes.

One wrote: “Oh my God this is so sad about Emma.”

A second said: “Dan Pearce abused Emma.’

Another added: “Emma telling Lola she was abused by Lola’s dad.”
