THE eldest son of tragic Big Brother star Jade Goody has landed a role in EastEnders.

Bobby Brazier will star in the BBC1 soap this autumn playing Freddie Slater, the son of Little Mo Slater, who was last seen in Walford in 2006.

Bobby, here with Jade, will appear in the BBC1 soap this autumn playing returning character Freddie Slater

The 19-year-old model and actor is the son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 43, and Jade, who tragically died of cervical cancer in 2009 aged just 27.

Bobby said: “I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far. I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect.

“Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped. Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing.

“I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.”

Bobby’s mother shot to fame exactly 20 years ago when she appeared on the third series of Channel 4 reality TV show, Big Brother.

Despite finishing in fourth place she became the programme’s biggest star, but her image was dinted in 2007 when she was at the centre of a controversy on spin-off Celebrity Big Brother after making remarks to her Indian housemate, actress Shilpa Shetty, which were deemed racist.

Bobby is the eldest child of Jade’s relationship with Jeff. They had another boy, Freddie, in 2004, and split up shortly afterwards.

She went on to marry her next boyfriend, Jack Tweed, in February 2009 – just a month before she died.

Bobby is currently filming his scenes, but the character of Freddie hasn’t been seen in Walford since May 2006 when he was just two years old.

He was born after Little Mo, played by Kacey Ainsworth, was raped by her friend, Graham Foster. She refused to abort the baby, leading to the break up of her marriage to then husband, Billy Mitchell, played by Perry Fenwick.

After he was born, she left with Freddie to start a new life away from Walford, but he returns to Albert Square as an 18 year old with bosses saying he is “on a mission that could end in heartbreak.”

He is described as someone with “a heart of gold” but also “a truckload of trouble.”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, added: “Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul. A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side.

“He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.

“Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him.”
