EASTENDERS star Maisie Smith looked unrecognisable in a sweet throwback snap with on-screen mum Patsy Palmer.

The 19-year-old actress – who first joined the BBC show when she was just six years old – looked adorable in a photo from her earlier days on the soap.

The TV star’s mum, Julia, unearthed the throwback snap to mark 13 years of her daughter being on the BBC One soap.

Maisie, who has played Tiffany Butcher since 2008, looked adorable as she posed with Bianca, who prepared to tie the knot with Ricky for the second time in 2009 filmed.

Maisie looked unrecognisable wearing a pink frilly bridesmaid dress, cream winter coat and a silver tiara.

The pair smiled for the camera as they took a break from filming their scenes at St Peter’s Church in St Albans.

The actress celebrated 13 years of being on the soap

Julia praised her on-screen mum Patsy for looking after her daughter for the past 13 years.

Alongside the photo, she penned: “So on this very day 13 years ago Maisie Smith stepped into the world of EastEnders! I thought it was only right to post a pic of her with her on screen mum Patsy Palmer who looked after her for all those years 💕.

“A lot of people at the time thought they were actually mum & daughter!! In fact she looked more like Patsy than me 😂.”

A number of fans raced to show their appreciation, with one writing: “I loved little Tiff. The way she bonded with Whitney is something money can’t buy.”

Her mum wrote: “By popular demand, this Thursday’s throwback is Tiff & Whit! On screen sisters for 13 years!! Shona such a beautiful soul.”

Patsy recently made headlines after she abruptly ended her interview and after taking offence to the description at the bottom of the screen, which read “addict to wellness guru”.

She then leaned in closer to read what was written under the video as Susanna Reid asked for her views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The EastEnders icon began to answer before stopping and telling Ben Shephard, 46, and Susanna, 50: “don’t even want to do this interview because I don’t even want to look at what it says at the bottom of the screen.

“So I’m going to switch off, do a real Piers Morgan, and just say that it’s not OK to have ‘addict to wellness guru’ at the bottom of the screen.”

Not wanting to hear their apologies, she concluded: “My issues… I had them years ago, they were talked about by me many, many years ago and it’s over so I’m not going to talk about it.”

Patsy has previously been open about her 20-year addiction to drug and booze in the past, having admitted to first drinking alcohol at the age of eight.

But in 2010, she proudly revealed that she had been clean of drugs and alcohol since September 2004 and was starting a new life.

The actress has planned to discuss a new business venture

Her on-screen daughter Maisie first starred in the soap between 2008 and 2014, making a brief return in 2016 for a guest stint.

However, in 2018 the actress reprised her role again, and has remained in the soap ever since.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Maisie plans to quit the soap again when her contract ends in October in a bid to launch a film career.

She enjoyed a new level of fame when she took part in Strictly Come Dancing last year, where she reached the final – and the star now hopes to capitalise on that success.

A source said at the time: “Maisie is hugely ambitious and wants to test herself away from soaps.”

They added: “The sensible move might be staying put for another year. But the intention is to leave in October.”
