The actor, who plays Freddie Slater, is the oldest son of late Big Brother star Jade Goody
A show source said: “Bobby is the dream signing for Strictly — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase.
“He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.
“There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages.”
Bobby, born to Jade and TV star Jeff Brazier, first started work as a model but has since turned to acting.
Jade shot to fame on Big Brother in 2002 and died of cervical cancer in 2009.
Reflecting on how she would view his soap career, Bobby said she would be “so proud.”
He added: “Dad’s just happy I’m earning and paying rent.”
Bobby lives with his father Jeff, his stepmother Kate Dwyer and brother Freddie.
He previously told how he breaks down in tears watching videos of his late mum.
He said: “I’m always being told that she’s a hero and that she was funny and that people see me in her on a daily basis, which is nice.
“I’m lucky that [her life was] kind of public, because it means that I can watch videos when I’m feeling strong enough to watch videos.
“But sometimes I can’t. I will cry if I do.”
