EASTENDERS teased a potential romance for Gray Atkins and Whitney Dean during Tuesday night’s episode.
Whitney – played by Shona McGarty – and her psychopath lawyer Gray have been spending more time together in recent weeks following the death of Leo.
However, the pair appeared to grow even closer in the latest episode of the BBC soap, with Gray supporting Whitney as she broke down over her looming trial.
Whitney has been allowed to remain at home ahead of her trial in nine weeks.
But it appears the ordeal has clearly taken its toll on troubled character, who leaned on Gray for support as he visited her in her home.
Following an emotional conversation, the pair hugged it out – leaving some viewers speculating over a potential affair storyline.
One wrote on Twitter: “Whitney and Gray have chemistry. I am disturbed. #EastEnders.”
A second added: “Has Whitney not suffered enough?????? Why are they pushing Gray on her??? #EastEnders.”
Another viewer said: “Pleaseee don’t let Gray & Whitney have an affair. Whitney needs to stay single after everything she’s been through.”

Eastenders viewers first spotted signs of a romance between the two after Whitney grabbed Gray’s hand during a prison visit this month.
