FANS have had enough of watching villagers walking around the Dales aimlessly.
Many Emmerdale viewers have taken to Reddit, asking writers to push their characters to “go to work.”

Residents of the eponymous ITV village have been dedicating most of their time to their respective storylines.
Charles Anderson, for example, has been dealing with the repercussions of his daughter Naomi attacking Nicola King.
Village GP Liam Cavanagh has tried to help his wife Leyla battle her cocaine addiction – before cheating on her with Bernice Blackstock.
Meanwhile, PC Harriet Finch has tried to get Will Taylor back in her life as he prepares for his upcoming nuptials with Kim Tate.
While the drama has kept some soap fans happy, it has left a few others on Reddit feeling bitter.
In March, 2022, one of them deplored Emmerdale’s characters leaving their jobs behind.
“I now find it is getting increasingly ridiculous in that they all seem to have jobs but never actually go to work”, the viewer penned.
“As far as I can see both doctors have not been to the surgery for about six or more weeks.”
“They had two nurses, one went away for about a month and the other has been on a murdering spree for at least three months and been nowhere near the surgery.”
After making a reference to sinister nurse and serial killer Meena Jutla, who was thrown in prison for her crimes, the angry viewer complained about Vanessa Woodfield and Rhona Goskirk, among others.
“The vets are always on a day off or drinking wine/coffee in some establishment.”
“The salon is never open but supports at least three full time wages.”
“The transport/scrapyard business is never managed so would be bankrupt.”
“And all the children have obviously been abducted by aliens as don’t seem to exist when it comes to childcare.”
According to this fan, the writers “need to have a rethink.”
And another ITV viewer jumped in, agreeing with them.
“The show lacks any realism. Nobody is affected by price hikes.”
“It’s like a time warp where all characters can get by on virtually no structured work, and yet can still afford to constantly eat and drink out. Nobody ever struggles”, they commented.
Another wrote: “You’re right about everything, the show simply needs a complete reset and new writers.”
“Yeah, back in the day this would be lambing time!”, one pointed out as another chimed in: “Yes we need more farming! If only to give the three vets something to do.”
