EMMERDALE cheat Liam Kavanagh devastated Leyla Harding tonight as he coldly walked away from her big declaration of love.
Viewers couldn’t believe it when he kept her waiting for half an hour and then stared at her blankly when she told him: “I’ve got feelings for you.”
He replied: “I can’t do this right now” after moaning to her about how their illicit kiss in the salon could see him thrown out by Diane.
Bungling Liam earlier let slip what had happened when Nicola King and the girls rallied round the doc believing Bernice had dumped HIM.
Leanna told him: “It’s OK dad – we know what happened. You don’t have to keep this from us any more.”
But he left them open-mouthed when he said: “Well as you know, I told Bernice that I kissed Leyla.”
He was told: “You slimy rat. Here we are ready to give you sympathy and it turns out it’s all your own fault.”
Later, Liam caught up with Leyla, saying: “This is all my fault – I should have said something sooner. I was trying to work out the best way to do it, then Nicola and the girls tackled me about you.
“I might be homeless soon. Nicola said Diane won’t have me in the place once she finds out how I’ve treated her daughter.”
But when she offered her a place in the B&B, Liam replied: “That’s the least of my worries. I need to work out how to make it up to Leanna and Gabby. Leanna thinks it’s all your fault.”
Leyla then made her big declaration, telling him: “It is a bit insensitive with everything you’ve got going on with Bernice, but I wanted to let you know I have got feelings for you.”
Sensing a change of mood, she added: “All you have to say is that you don’t feel the same and I’ll back off.”
The doc paused for a minute looking blankly at her, before turning on his heel, saying: “I really can’t do this now.”
Later, Leanna urged him to fly to Australia and win back Bernice – and he certainly didn’t seem to be ruling it out.
Fans were annoyed about both Leyla and Liam’s behaviour, tweeting: “Oh Liam you idiot.”
Another wrote: “Liam was about to marry Bernice last month and is still pining over her.. but yeah I’m sure he’s waiting for Llelya to confess her love for him.. good idea Priya! #emmerdale.”
