EMMERDALE fans were in tears after a beloved character left the village with an emotional final farewell.
The ITV soap has seen a number of exits in recent weeks since it’s big 50th anniversary.
Vanessa Woodfield left the village for Canada in tonight’s episode

Tonight’s episode saw Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) head off for a year’s placement in Canada.
Vanessa’s storyline is to cover Michelle’s maternity leave after she welcomed a baby girl earlier this month with wife, Kate Brooks.
Vanessa was supposed to be leaving with girlfriend Suzy, but they split up in the previous episode after a misunderstanding and a shock revelation.
Vanessa tried to remain upbeat despite her heartbreak in tonight’s episode, and her pals through her a leaving do in the Woolpack.
However, in a heart to heart with her ex Charity, Vanessa admitted how gutted she was, while in a separate chat with Rhona’s mum, Suzy also confessed to still loving Vanessa.
Sadly it seemed both women were too stubborn to make peace with one another before Vanessa left, and soon she was in the taxi heading to the airport.
But just before she left the village, the car stopped suddenly and when Vanessa looked up, Suzy was stood there.
The women then finally told each other how they felt, with Suzy saying Vanessa was going to “smash it” in Canada, before saying she still loved her.
Vanessa said she loved her too, and they shared a sweet kiss and said they’d have to wait and see where they both were in a year’s time.
Vanessa’s son then asked if Suzy was going to visit, and as they exchanged a look, Vanessa told him they had to get settled in, but left it open to a potential reunion across the pond.
With things looking a lot more hopeful between the women, Emmerdale viewers took to Twitter to comment on Vanessa’s final scenes.
One wrote: “So glad Suzy and Vanessa reconciled but why didn’t they leave together? I mean what is the point of getting back together if Vanessa is leaving on her own. #Emmerdale”
Another added: “Er hello Vanessa you forgot to take Suzy with you. #Emmerdale”
A third tweeted: “Vanessa saying goodbye to Paddy, Marlon and Rhona has got me so emotional. Vanessa I am going to miss you so much. #Emmerdale”
Her friends were heartbroken to see her leave
