EMMERDALE viewers are in tears after Vanessa Woodfield made a shock return on the anniversary of her first kiss with girlfriend Charity Dingle.
The vet – who is played by actress Michelle Hardwick in the ITV soap – appeared over video call for a virtual dinner with Charity.
Off-screen Michelle was forced to stop filming to shield during the pandemic after falling pregnant, while on-screen Vanessa has been staying with her mum while battling cancer.
Viewers were in tears at the reunion for the couple dubbed Vanity with one saying: “Omg Vanessa 
#emmerdale”
A second said: “VANITY BACK ON OUR SCREENS AND IT’S BEAUTIFUL 
#Emmerdale #Vanity”
Another added: “Aww Charity’s face when she saw her #Emmerdale”
Vanessa’s shock return comes just days after actress Michelle gave birth.
The actress welcomed her baby son with producer wife Kate Brooks on Friday.
In the first black and white snap, Michelle is beaming in her hospital bed with the little boy snuggled beside her wrapped in a towel and wearing a knitted hat.
The second photo is in colour, with the little one under a rainbow blanket as Michelle gazes down adoringly at him.
The actress captioned the post: “On Friday 9th October, this handsome little chap entered the world.
“Edward ‘Teddy’ Peter Brooks we are so in love with you 
#ourlittleTeddyboy”
The new mum, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale, shares a stunning home with wife Kate and their dog Fred, after they moved in together two years ago.
The couple married a year ago at Graceland when they eloped to America.
