EMMERDALE viewers got the giggles last night after spotting a continuity blunder that saw a policeman’s beard grow dramatically in a matter of minutes.

With the cop responsible for tracking down missing Andrea Tate back on screens now that lockdown filming has resumed, fans couldn’t help but noticing something iffy about his facial hair.

Emmerdale viewers spotted a continuity error with the length of a policeman’s beard last night

When he discovered Andrea alive and well in a hotel lobby at the beginning of the episode, the policeman sported designer stubble.

But fast forward to later in the episode, and the same policeman had a much longer beard when telling Andrea’s husband Jamie she had been found, giving away the break in filming.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Check out that beard, was half the length earlier.”

A second shared: “@emmerdale fastest growing beard ever on emmerdale tonight! Great to see it back.”

A third posted: “Wow, that policeman’s beard grew quick!”

Another was happy to let the blunder slide as they praised the way the soap had adapted to the new rules.

They said: “Can’t help noticing which scenes were filmed before lockdown. Had to giggle at the policeman’s beard suddenly growing!

“I think they’ve done really well though, especially with some camera angles making the actors look like they’re closer to each other than they are. #Emmerdale.”

However, others believed the show was flouting distancing guidelines in the hotel scenes.

When the policeman found Andrea it did look like they were standing side by side.

But the soap previously explained it would use clever filming techniques to make the action look as normal as possible.

Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley recently gave fans a rare look behind the scenes on the soap.

The Mandy Dingle star, 43, revealed some of the new measures in place on the set in Leeds, including a lady who enforces social distancing with a giant stick.

She explained how the temperatures of the actors and crew are being taken on the way into the ITV base – and the whole building converted into a one-way system.

Lisa said: “We are now in charge of our own hair and make-up and of course our wardrobe is laid out for us in our room, fully sanitised, in the order we’re going to shoot that day.”
