EMMERDALE fans have lashed out and accused the soap of ‘misrepresenting’ police officers with its ongoing Detective Inspector Malone storyline.

Bent copper Malone, played by Mark Womack, appeared on screen for the first time last month and viewers were quick to see that he was actually a criminal.

It was soon revealed Malone owned the gun that Cain Dingle used to shoot Nate Robinson and the drama has just intensified.

Last week, fans were calling for DI Malone to be murdered after he told Billy he would use his mum, Dawn Taylor, as a prostitute in a sick threat.

The ITV soap now seems to be gearing up to a bloodbath as Cain’s feud with the dodgy detective reach fever pitch.

But some viewers are seriously unimpressed with DI Malone’s stoylines.

HOAR Online can reveal that television watchdog Ofcom has been hit with nine complaints about the unlikeable character.

A spokesperson for the regulatory body confirmed the complaints were about “how the storyline involving police corruption was misrepresentative”.

DI Malone made his debut in Emmerdale to quiz residents over the shooting of Nate, played by Jurell Carter.

But along with the Ofcom official complaints, other viewers have hit out on Twitter and demanded that the storyline is culled.

One wrote: B”ent coppers are usually fun. DI Malone is p*ss poor.

“I’d be more concerned about a papercut than the sh**show he is. #Emmerdale.”

Another said: “Now we’re getting into #BasilFawlty territory! How Many Cops does DI Malone have on his payroll!

“And don’t think the trumped up charges against Billy add up to 10 years-do you?! #Emmerdale.”

A third tweeted: “The Treasure Hunt and DI Malone‘s Bent Cop act have been diabolical!”

Emmerdale continues at 7pm tonight (Wednesday April 15) on ITV1.
