EMMERDALE actress Louisa Clein had a lucky escape from the Piccadilly Theatre roof collapse last night.
The 40-year-old star is best known for playing jailed paedophile Maya Stepney in the ITV soap.
She was enjoying a night out to see Death of a Salesman with her mum when the entire West End theatre was evacuated just minutes before the roof caved in.
Louisa tweeted about the “terrifying” moment, telling fans: “Evacuated from the #PiccadillyTheatre 30 mins into #DeathOfASalesman.
“Terrifying moment.”
She later reassured followers that she was okay following the scare, although expressed disappointment that she didn’t get to finish the second half of the play.
The actress wrote: “Just to say…. My mum and I are fine.
“The first half hour was utterly mesmerising….. Really hope I get to see the rest at some point!”
Audience members were left with head injuries following the shock ceiling collapse, with punters at the adaptation of the Arthur Miller classic hit by falling masonry.
The play, starring The Wire star Wendell Pierce, opened to rave reviews at the Piccadilly Theatre earlier this week.
But yesterday’s performance was dramatic for completely different reasons as emergency services were called.
Police made a statement on Twitter at the time, explaining: “Police on scene with LAS & LFB at Piccadilly Theatre in Denman St #Westminster after reports of a ceiling collapse around 19:59hrs.
“Everyone is out of the theatre.
“A few people have suffered minor injuries. Road closures in place. Motorists advised to use alternative routes.”
Emmerdale fans were gripped this year by the harrowing storyline that saw Louisa’s Maya groom and sexually abuse teen Jacob.
She was finally caught and convicted for her crime in June of this year, with viewers rejoicing as justice was served.
