WHILE his sister Chas has been beside herself, Cain Dingle remains seemingly indifferent to Faith’s cancer.
But the Emmerdale tough man softens next week and has a progressive change of heart.
Soap fans know only too well how strained Cain’s (portrayed by Jeff Hordley) relationship with his mother Faith (Sally Dexter) has been, despite her many attempts at bridging a gap.
He’s displayed no change in his behaviour after Faith announced she was battling cancer again during an explosive birthday bash at The Woolpack.
Cain’s loved ones, most notably his sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and his wife Moira (Natalie J. Robb) are growing increasingly desperate to see make amends with Faith – and time is running out.
Next week, Faith has to undergo a scan and Moira encourages Cain to accompany her but, instead, he chooses to have drinks in the pub, infuriating Chas who catches him red-handed.

Faith attends her appointment without the support of her son and Moira’s heart breaks for her, realising Cain has failed to step up.
The farmer pleads with him to change and be there for Faith.
Cain finally appears to get the memo when, the following day, there’s a slight thawing from him.
He delivers Faith a card from his four-year-old son Isaac and later makes an effort to speak to her.
Moira is happy to see them talking but Cain’s efforts aren’t convincing enough for Chas.
The Woolpack bar manager is later devastated when she finds out her mother’s cancer has spread during an oncology appointment she attends with Faith.
As her days are clearly limited, Chas hopes Faith will decide to continue her chemotherapy treatment but her mother stands firm in her decision to accept her fate and refuses chemo altogether.
Overwhelmed and instead of going to Al Chapman to forget about her problems, Chas ignites at Cain’s apparent indifference to Faith’s decision to stop her treatment.
Little does she know Cain is actually keeping his feelings to himself, privately reeling from the news while out in a field.
