Dawn is grieving after the death of Harriet Finch
The policewoman’s passing left several residents heartbroken
However, a familiar face resurfaces and makes things harder for everyone
Harriet’s passing left many viewers with their jaws dropped.
Residents of the eponymous village, however, were left in tatters and Dawn Taylor (played by Olivia Bromley) is heartbroken.
But when she finds out that the money from her long lost mother figure’s will isn’t enough for her and her husband Billy (Jay Kontzle) to keep their house, the thought of becoming homeless haunts her.
The pair hatch a plan to buy Woodbine for themselves – but Dawn’s ex-partner Alex makes matters worse.
The money-hungry schemer threatens to take young Clemmie away if he doesn’t get Harriet’s fortune.
While everyone prepares and sets off for Harriet’s funeral, Dawn is anxious about Alex’s threats but her family assure her they’ll be fighting her corner.
She later hopes that she hasn’t lied to Clemmie by assuring her their family will stick together.
As ITV viewers may remember, Dawn took Clemmie in following the death of her mother Beth before finding out Alex had cheated on her and fathered the young girl.
As promised, Dawn can count on her family’s support, particularly on her father Will (Dean Andrews).
But Alex remains undisturbed when Will manhandles him, demanding that he leave Dawn alone.
Kim Tate (Claire King) soon steps up and baits Alex to her car with the temptation of the money he’s after.
Alex is lured in before being bundled into the car boot.
He is then tied up in the Home Farm Stables as Kim and Will negotiate a cheaper pay off.
The troublemaker is left alone to stew on the decision.
While Will tries to tell Billy about Alex, Kim is adamant on keeping the hostage situation a secret, vowing to keep her family safe.
However, both Will and Kim are on the same page and she even admires his bravado when he prepares to beat Alex down.
Unfortunately, Alex is a tough nut to crack and sticks to his initial demand.
Will and Kim form a united front and leave him to suffer overnight.
How will they handle Alex?
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
