EMMERDALE star Jeff Hordley has revealed why he quit the ITV soap back in 2006.

The actor, 51, first appeared on our screens as Cain Dingle back in 2000.

Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has opened up about why he quit as Cain Dingle back in the early 2000s

Jeff played the village hardman for six years until he decided to leave in 2006, but producers left it so that his character was able to return to the Dales at some point in the future.

Three years later the soap star made an epic comeback and has been on our screens ever since.

During a chat on Mike Artistik’s Ego Podcast, host Mike asked Jeff why he left the hit show all those years ago.

Jeff told listeners: “From 2000 until 2006, I’d only been four years out of drama school. I hadn’t ticked all of the boxes that I wanted to tick.

“There were a couple of places where I wanted to work in London.

“I wanted to fulfil those things. So for three years, I did that.”
