EMMERDALE viewers were left wracked with worry for Paddy Kirk as he disappeared once again during tonight’s episode.

Paddy – played by Dominic Brunt in the ITV soap opera – appeared out of sorts right from the get-go as he began displaying similar patterns of behaviour he had when he went missing previously.

It wasn’t until Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) entered the pub that the family realised something was amiss.

Rhona told Chas that after offering Paddy a late start at work, he had told her he would not be coming in at all, something which was out of character for him.

This sparked alarm bells for Rhona, Chas and Marlon as they quickly scrambled to uncover Paddy’s whereabouts as it became clear he was not answering anybody’s calls.

As the Dingle clan gathered outside the Woolpack, fear set in and Caleb told them that given Paddy’s history, they should consider telephoning the police.

However, Paddy made a call himself to Chas and told her that he was safe and was out in the woods where she quickly went to join him.

He told his ex that he had been rattled by the news of Chloe Harris’ baby boy Reuben being admitted to hospital and receiving critical care as it reminded him of their deceased daughter, Grace.

Speaking about the grief of losing Grace, Paddy said: “All of a sudden, just like that, you are right back there.

“We always knew we were not gonna have much time with Grace, but we made that choice.”

He added: “A day will go by and I won’t have thought about her, too much, not as much as I did.

“Then I realise but they say that’s moving on, don’t they.”

Viewers were left crushed for Paddy and fearing the worst that there could be even more long-term devestation for the troubled vet.

One fan said: “Where has Paddy gone now?!

Another wrote: “Paddy has gone AWOL again. Please let him be ok.”

As a third penned: “Paddy is back to square one :(“
