DEE Dee Blackstock is returning to Emmerdale for her mum Bernice’s exit.

The schoolgirl – who was last played by actress Mia Gibson-Reed in the ITV soap – will arrive in the village next month for her mum’s wedding to Dr Liam Cavanaugh.

However things won’t go smoothly as Dee Dee’s arrival in the village from Australia stirs up some old dramas for Bernice who is desperate to marry Liam after their up and down romance finally got back on track.

Dee Dee hasn’t been seen in the village since her brief appearance in 2017 when it emerged Bernice had been lying to her about being a multi-millionaire in the UK.

A source said: “Dee Dee’s return will have unexpected consequences for Bernice as she begins to question her life in the village.”

Last month actress Samantha Giles shocked fans by revealing on Twitter that she had decided to leave the soap.

Samantha quit her role as Bernice after seven years

She tweeted: “After 7 fabulous years I am shortly to be hanging up Bernices aprons and leaving the dales to pursue other creative projects.

“I will miss all the friends Ive made on the show, but Im very excited to be moving on to pastures new.”

The actress joined the show originally in 1998 as a barmaid at The Woolpack after leaving her first husband when she caught him in bed with another man.

She was later joined by her mother Diane, and she went on to marry Vicar Ashley Thomas before their bitter split. In 2002 Bernice left the village for a life on cruise ships, leaving her daughter Gabby to be raised by her ex-husband.

She returned in 2012 for her most recent stint after splitting with her third husband Charlie and storylines since have seen her have affairs with Andy Sugden, a relationship with secretly gay Lawrence and a new romance with Liam.

An Emmerdale spokeswoman declined to comment.
