EMMERDALE stars Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins may not be back on our TV screens until January, show sources say.

The pair – who play David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden – have not appeared on the soap since October 28 following an on-set row among cast members in which they were involved.

Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden won’t be back on screen until 2022
Isabel Hodgins has just returned to filming – but scenes won’t be shown until next year

We exclusively reported on the bust-up last week.

The actors have been absent from the set while bosses made enquiries into the incident – although they have both now returned to filming.

Their unexpected absence was explained on screen on Thursday, when it was revealed that their characters had travelled to Portugal to visit Diane Sugden in her new home.

The source said: “It is very unlikely that Matthew and Isabel will be back on screen before Christmas.

“They have only just returned to the set, and as Emmerdale is filmed six weeks in advance, that puts their return date in January.

“It was a disappointment for the bosses and scriptwriters, who were planning for them to be a major part of Emmerdale’s Christmas storylines next month.

“But they of course understood that the appropriate enquiries needed to be made.”

Following the row, an Emmerdale spokeswoman said: “While we would never comment on individual cases, Emmerdale has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations that are brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps.

“Neither actor has been suspended from Emmerdale.”
